The Hunt for the Perfect Deal
last modified: Sunday, January 30, 2011 (12:24:16 PM CST)
Usually at this time of year, I always seem to find all the best deals and even sometimes find one of my wish-list cels. Well, this time around I managed to find three major cels that I have been searching for 5 - 12 years. All three of them are early, 1930's cels from Walt Disney. I am heading over to pick up two of them this week and the 3rd one next week. Will be making some major updates to the Disney section within the next month or so.

Don't you just love the satisfaction of, after waiting for nearly almost 3 months, coming home to a HUGE package from Japan, opening it up, and finding that ONE cel you have been waiting for so long? Except in this case, there were three of them, all oversized and far more impressive in person than I had ever imagined.
One cel in particular, I have been searching for since I started this hobby. I was told that cels from this series (Transformers Victory) probably no longer exist because they are so old. But, low and behold! I found one!
The other cel is of Unico transformed as a Unicorn. I have been trying to get this cel for years now on auction, but have not been very lucky. Finally, I nabbed the PERFECT one!
The third piece is by FAR the most expensive one I have EVER paid for. I honestly, was not so sure on what to expect when I bought it and if it was really worth the price I paid for it. But, when I opened the box and saw it for the first time in person, my jaw literally dropped opened and I actually DROOLED on myself! HAHAHA!
None of the scans on any of these pieces do them justice. I ordered a brand new scanner and will rescan all of these cels in and update them on the site. This was truly a magnificant update! :-)

Well, after a hard week of medical school and 40+ hours of studying, I finally got in my wishlist sketches. 2 gorgeous sketches of Shikaku Gaara and Anbu Kakashi from Naruto just arrived on Friday afternoon. And what a perfect time to arrive too. My gallery just exceeded 10,000 page views! Woo!

I just got in a TRUCK load of stuff yesterday, and I must say, I am THRILLED! It took me 5 hours to just scan in SOME of the stuff I got in. The rest of the sketches are so large, that I would have to scan them twice and Photoshop them together, which would take another few hours just to do all that. I am so excited, my head has been up in the clouds since yesterday. I was only expecting to get in a few sketches, not over 100! :)
So, has anyone else ever had such a nice suprise happen to them?

Yesterday was one of those very weird days. I was practicing piano for an audition in the recreation room, trying frantically to memorize the 10 page piece. Suddenly, I get approached by this old man telling me "Excuse me. We are trying to have a class here. Would yoiu please stop playing and go away." I was in such utter shock, that I didn't know what to say! OMG!
I spoke to the leasing office and the old people were not allowed to kick people out of the room since they don't pay for the room, and it is open to all residents (apparently, they decided they want to do a yoga class). But, wow . . . . I just don't know what to say! Anybody else experience such weird encounters with the 4th kind?

Well, I have been sitting here waiting for my special dream cel to arrive today from Japan. HOWEVER (yes THAT dreaded word!), when I checked this morning to see where the package was, it said that it was returned to the sender from Austin at 6:46 a.m. OMG! Apparently, the mailing address is wrong????? I double-checked the address I gave to the sender and it was correct. Oy! So, the hunt begins.... I have been on the phone for the past 1 hour now from post office to post office in an attempt to catch the package before it leaves the US. Any suggestions? ~_~

I just love that feeling of winning a super big dream cel that I have been trying to get for the past 3 years. And better yet, at an unbelievably low price, considering the last cel I have seen from the same sequence sold for over $1000 more than this one. I guess patience does pay off eventually. Has anyone ever had this kind of luck after years of trying?

Well, some good news . . . .
My mom just called and informed me that the power has been restored in their home even though they were told that it would take a week. It is nice to know that there are people doing their jobs so efficiently out there. So, that is one good thing to look at. ^_^
They are still not letting anyone into the heavily hit areas. Apparently, they got severely flooded. :( Hopefully, it is not too bad and everyone evacuated on time.
